新华网重庆５月２日电（记者张琴）重庆近日首次发现原生地层旧石器时代手斧。
据了解，重庆中国三峡博物馆三峡古人类研究所与重庆大渡口区文物管理所近日联合对大渡口区长江沿岸进行考古调查，在跳磴镇石盘村二社的长江北岸原生地层发现人类打制石器十件，包括手斧、砍砸器、石核石器、石片石器等工具。其中，手斧的发现在重庆尚属首次，在长江三峡地区也非常罕见。
考古专家分析，该遗址距今约７—８万年前，应为旧石器时代中晚期，石制品质地均为石英砂岩。出土的手斧呈灰色，刃部可见双面打击痕迹，其加工方式是将石核或石片的边缘由两面打击而成，为石核类型的复合型石器，是目前为止在长江流域发现的最精美的一件手斧。
考古专家指出，首次出土有明确层位关系的手斧，填补了重庆地区旧石器考古发现之空白。为研究重庆主城乃至三峡地区旧石器考古学文化的演变、发展提供了线索，对研究长江上游地区晚期智人的活动范围以及远古文化交流等都具有重要的历史、艺术和科学研究价值。
