拜别山大
在22日下午的中央任免决定宣布大会上，卸任山大校长的徐显明和就任山大校长的张荣分别作了讲话。
“再过15天，就是我在山大任校长满5年的日子。”徐显明用两次深鞠躬，拜别前后工作了21年的山东大学。
临别之际，他用四句话表达对山大的感情。第一句是大学精神是大学的第一财富。他认为，像山大这样的百年老校，守护大学精神是校长的基本职责。创新是大学的灵魂，守成则是大学的脚跟。校长的一项重要任务，是做象牙塔尖上的哨兵。
第二句话是，功成不必在我，但功成必在大家。第三句话他送给新任山大校长张荣，他从办学传统的角度提到，南京大学与山东大学有很多历史渊源，“张校长年富力强，比5年前我来山大的时候还小两岁，希望大家能像支持我一样支持张校长。”
最后，徐显明透露，他的新工作仍没离开教育，他的根在山大，心在山东，魂在教育。“我离开了大学，但是我离不开教育。”
