从南京市环保局公布的空气质量监测数据来看，自20日以来，南京空气质量指数已连续4天超过100，达到轻度污染级别。“这些污染主要来自于工业气体排放、工地和道路扬尘、机动车尾气等三方面。其中燃煤产生的大量粉尘和细小颗粒物造成PM2.5和PM10的数值升高，同时产生有害气体二氧化硫污染空气。”南京市环保局宣教中心主任徐小怗说。他表示，南京的空气污染是结构性的，这源于南京市工业与能源结构的不合理。
据南京市经信委节能与综合利用处处长梅佩民介绍，南京的发电、钢铁和化工企业居多，工业用煤量巨大。目前正着力对上述企业进行能源结构改造，用天然气等清洁能源代替燃煤，同时关闭小锅炉，力争到2015年将煤耗控制在3240万吨以内。但是，他同时表示，改造的难度会比较大，空气污染治理的效果也不会立竿见影。
其实，南京的空气污染并不是个例。进入10月以后，北京、天津、哈尔滨等中国的大中型城市，相继出现了严重的雾霾天气，影响了市民正常的工作与生活，同时给身体健康带来了巨大威胁。10月17日，世界卫生组织旗下的国际肿瘤研究所就发布报告称，空气污染能够导致罹患癌症。这份报告也向全世界发出了强烈的信号，由于空气污染影响范围甚广，采取行动治理空气污染刻不容缓。谢志成表示，南京市政府在近三年花了大量力气来治理工业排放，南京市经信委也会全力以赴推进工业排放的治理。(完)
