　　下午4时20分，李克强在熙和门外迎接辛格，两国总理同乘一辆电瓶车来到太和门广场，下车后沿着故宫中轴线走上内金水桥。夕阳余辉中，红墙黄瓦的皇城宫殿显得金碧辉煌。面对雄浑大气的午门城楼，背朝着典雅庄重的太和门，两国总理的手握在了一起。李克强说，我们的背后是中华文明，而辛格总理代表的是印度文明，我和辛格总理这次握手象征着两大文明的握手。辛格微笑着点头赞许，对故宫气势恢宏的建筑表示赞叹。两国总理的手握得更紧了。

　　正在故宫参观的中国游客聚拢在内金水桥边，向中印两国总理欢呼问候。两国总理向大家挥手致意，走到人群中同大家亲切握手、攀谈，现场洋溢着中印友好的热烈气氛。

　　李克强陪同辛格来到故宫北侧的漱芳斋，观赏了中华人民共和国成立十周年大庆时印度赠送的国礼、体现印度莫卧儿王朝精湛工艺水平的玉器、中国西周时期的典范之作——青铜簋等珍品。

　　故宫御花园古木参天，环境清幽。两国总理沿着甬道前往，不时驻足观赏。李克强愉快回忆起上世纪80年代他曾经访印的经历。他说，我们两国都是没有中断过传统文明的大国，两国文明交相辉映，人文交流也生生不息。相信辛格总理此访将开启两国交往与合作的新篇章。辛格对此深表赞同。

　　参观结束时，两国总理亲切握手道别。辛格感谢中方热情接待。李克强表示，期待中印友谊长期健康稳定向前发展。辛格微笑着说，这也是我的真诚希望。
