此次地震震级不高，但福建莆田、泉州、福州永泰等地震感强烈，不少民众从睡梦中惊醒；福州、厦门等地也有震感。
颇为引人关注的是，8月份，福建省仙游县曾发生多次地震。
对于此前8月份莆田小地震频繁发生，福建省地震局预报中心总工程师李祖宁就民众的疑问曾向媒体表示，莆田仙游的地震类型属于震群型地震，这种地震是属于福建省正常的地震现象，不会造成太大的影响，市民不用太过担心。(完)
