10月28日晚，中央纪委、监察部网站发布公告称，53岁的贵州省委常委、遵义市委书记廖少华涉嫌严重违纪违法，目前正接受组织调查。
昨日下午，新京报记者登录遵义市委官方网站，“市委领导”一栏中“市委书记”已经空缺。据其他媒体的报道，昨晚该栏还写着“廖少华”的名字，只是缺少简历。
廖少华被查并无迹象。
在被中纪委宣布接受组织调查前一天，即10月27日下午，廖少华仍以省委常委、市委书记身份主持召开遵义市委常委会议，传达全省第二次工业发展大会暨项目观摩总结会议精神、2013年度省委议军会议精神，并提出贯彻落实意见。
次日的《遵义日报》头版头条报道了此事。
遵义当地多位官员均表示此事“很突然”，他们也是从网上得知的上述消息。一位熟知遵义政情的人说，廖少华落马前，遵义当地并没有相关传言。
一位与廖少华见过几次面的贵州公务员说，他听闻廖少华或涉今年5月落马的凯里市长洪金洲案。

廖少华接受组织调查后，网友发现，关于廖少华的相关报道中，很大一部分有关高调谈反腐。
据遵义市政府官网，自去年7月履职遵义至今，廖少华参与的主持或发表重要讲话的反腐会议，多达9次。
其中，规模最大的一次，是今年6月6日遵义市召开的全市党风廉政“警示教育月”活动。
活动启动大会上，廖少华提醒领导干部，要把好“思想关”、筑牢思想防线；把好“欲望关”、警钟长鸣；把好“权力关”、正确使用权力；把好“小节关”、始终廉洁自律。
当天，廖少华还带着与会人员到忠庄监狱，听取服刑人员剖析思想蜕变、走向犯罪的过程，接受警示教育。
他说：作为一名党员领导干部，要多看那些正在狱中服刑的职务罪犯的境况，想想自由的宝贵；多读纪检监察机关的办案纪实，想一想任何自以为隐秘的伎俩随时都可能暴露在光天化日之下。思考一下假如走上违法犯罪道路，前途又何在？
前述贵州公务员说，廖少华任黔东南州委书记时有次聊天说：有一些老板不送钱，送一些贵阳的购物卡给他。廖少华感慨送礼的人无孔不入，并表示自己曾经在中铁拿很高的年薪，并不缺钱，怎么会对那点购物卡心动。
或涉凯里市长落马案
有媒体称，廖少华落马与中央第六巡视调查结果有关，有遵义公务员称，或与今年5月凯里市长洪金洲落马有关
今年1月21日，遵义市委书记廖少华成为贵州省委常委，距离他由黔东南州州委书记调任遵义市委书记仅半年。据此，有观察者认为，廖少华属于“边升边腐”的官员。

廖少华的落马是否与中央巡视组调查成果有关，尚不得知。前述贵州公务员称，据他听闻，廖少华落马或因今年5月落马的凯里市长洪金洲案牵连。
前贵州省黔东南州副州长、凯里市长洪金洲在今年五月份落马，并由此牵出凯里多位官员腐败窝案，多名地产商也相继被纪委带走调查。
据媒体报道，洪金洲落马与原国家发改委副主任刘铁男被调查有关。今年5月11日刘铁男因严重违纪被调查，进京争取能源项目的洪金洲也涉入其中。刘铁男案发第9天，洪金洲被免去除黔东南州副州长以外的所有职务。此后，贵州省纪委将他带走调查。
廖少华在黔东南州履职7年间，洪金洲由凯里经济开发区工委副书记升至黔东南州人民政府副州长、凯里市长。

1960年出生的廖少华是四川遂宁人，拥有中央党校研究生学历，高级工程师。
据《贵州日报》公布的廖少华简历。廖少华于1982年毕业于西南交通大学铁道工程系。毕业后15年里，廖少华一直在铁道部第五工程局工作。
1982年到1993年，他先后任中铁五局三处见习生、助理工程师、工程师；施工科副科长；副总工程师；副处长、高级工程师。
1993年，廖少华出任中铁五局南昆铁路指挥部副指挥长，正处级；一年后，廖任中铁五局副局长兼南昆铁路指挥长、党委书记。
1997年，廖少华离开铁路系统，步入贵州政坛。时年37岁的廖少华任共青团贵州省委书记、党组书记。
一年后，廖少华调离共青团贵州省委，到贵州省计划委员会任职副主任、党组成员，官至正厅级。
