就在相峰的采访结束第二天，11月6日，有一个自称是圆通员工的网民主动找上记者，要出售单号。而且，这个员工是真实的，他能按照记者的要求提供冷门区域的快递单号，并且所提供三份快递单均有详细的姓名、住址和电话信息。
要知道，各快递单号平台为了规避风险，故意只选取14个网购量最大的省市来提供快递单号。这些“不幸”被选中的省市分别是北京、浙江、广东、上海、江苏、福建、湖北、重庆、天津、四川、山东、河南、河北、辽宁、安徽和陕西。
代理们的解释是，这些城市的网购交易量大，即使店铺多刷一点交易量，也不会引起淘宝的警觉。上述圆通员工却能提供除了这些热门城市以外的快递单详单，证实该员工可以大批量接触快递成交信息。记者以购买大量个人信息望与其合作，被拒绝。该员工向记者透露，自己已与某保险公司达成合作，向其提供大批量个人信息。该合作具有排他性。
按照该员工的说法，这些快递员除了将快递单号卖给网站平台，或者店铺店主等人，还可以收集个人信息卖给保险公司、地产公司等销售人员。
不过，通过快递公司获取个人信息的公司或个人并不算多。一个做商业推广和短信群发的女士向记者透露，目前已经有群发器或者便携式基站开发出来了，后者根本无需掌握客户手机号码，只需在闹市或相应的小区等地，通过类似手提电脑的基站发送广告，则周围一公里以内的所有手机号码都会强制接到广告信息，无法屏蔽。这种群发广告的基站价格便宜的不过一万多元，隐蔽性强且没有违法买卖个人信息的风险。
记者在调查中还发现，市场上几乎没有哪家快递公司的单号不能买卖。除了圆通、申通、中通、韵达、宅急送等快递单号交易外，连普遍认为管理最好的顺丰和EMS也有真实交易的快递单号往外泄露。
在快递单号交易的QQ群中，有35个群宣称可以交易顺丰单号。记者联系其中一个400多人的顺丰单号群，群主告诉记者每个顺丰单号卖价一元，不过只能提供从安徽和深圳发往全国的快递单号。
记者要求其提供从安徽和深圳发往广西南宁的快递单号，该卖家爽快找来两个顺丰单号，经查验均是真实的。不过，这些单号也不再显示个人信息部分的内容。该卖家解释卖详细信息违法。
