“亳州本身就有曹操故居，因为没有房屋建筑，所以属于遗址类，目前是市级文保单位。”亳州市文物管理处处长薛冰告诉记者，事实上亳州很早就有意向，效仿西安等地，以故居原址为中心，在文物保护的基础上做一些文化旅游方面的拓展项目。
“但是这个项目一直处于谋划阶段，还有真正的支撑对象，至于投多少资金、谁来投、占地多少更是没有定论，2个亿的说法显然是没有根据的。”薛冰说。
据介绍，70年代以来，文物部门先后在亳州谯城区境内发掘出了曹腾墓、曹嵩墓等近十平方公里的曹氏家族墓群，曹腾墓和曹嵩墓中只出土了部分文物，没有人体样本，只有“元宝坑墓葬”中发现两个牙齿。
薛冰告诉记者，复旦大学课题组在进行曹操家族进行DNA研究过程中曾两次来到亳州进行取样。第一次是2010年，课题组来到亳州，提取了居住在曹氏家族墓群附近村庄村民的DNA样本，这里有很多是曹姓族人和为家族墓群守墓的人。2011年，复旦大学再次来到亳州，在征得亳州市政府和当地文物部门同意后，借走了从“元宝坑墓葬”中出土的两颗牙齿进行研究。此外，课题组还亳州进行了一些民间走访和文献调查。在此过程中，亳州市方面予以积极配合。
