　　赵白鸽在当选后接受采访时表示，近年来中国红十字会重点加强了与非洲、中亚和亚太地区国家的合作，取得了良好的成绩。未来，中国红十字会将积极发挥应有作用，与其他兄弟国家红会共同应对人道主义挑战，为减轻人类苦难、保护人的尊严、促进世界和平而努力。

　　赵白鸽说，中国红十字会将在力所能及的情况下加大国际合作和对外援助力度，加强对政府、企业、社会组织等合作伙伴的倡导，积极推动国际红十字与红新月运动的区域性合作，推动中国政府、国家红会与国际联合会开展战略合作，把中国与非洲、亚太和中亚国家之间的人道交流与合作作为战略重点，继续对发展中国家红会进行非紧急物资援助，推动社区恢复力建设和可持续发展等。

　　红十字会与红新月会国际联合会亚太区代表团团长雅干(Jagannath Chapagain)在接受采访时表示，非常高兴看到中国红十字会赵白鸽此次当选国际联合会副主席。中国红十字会作为国际红十字与红新月运动的重要成员，近年来在本国红十字人道工作以及国际人道救援中做出了积极的贡献，也积累了丰富的工作经验，希望中国红十字会能将这些经验与世界各国红会分享，在国际红十字人道事务中发挥更加积极的作用。

　　目前，红十字会与红新月会国际联合会在全球共有189个成员。国际联合会大会是国际联合会的最高权力机构。联合会副主席由联合会大会选举产生，每4年选举一次。联合会将全球分为4个选区(欧洲、非洲、亚太、美洲)，每个选区选出一名副主席，每届任期4年，可连任两届。
