  在诺奖大师论坛上,2011年度诺贝尔生理学或医学奖得主、美国德克萨斯大学宿主防御遗传学中心主任布鲁斯·博伊特勒博士,2010年度诺贝尔化学奖得主、美国普渡大学赫伯特·布朗特聘教授根岸英一博士,2010年度诺贝尔化学奖得主、日本北海道大学荣誉教授铃木章博士和2004年诺贝尔化学奖得主、以色列理工大学教授阿龙·切哈诺沃博士分别做了主旨发言。


  本届大会重点聚焦在基因工程、工业生物技术、生物能源及生物多样性等前沿领域,搭建集国际性与专业性于一体的平台,着重引进学术机构、生物及医药等领域的海外高层次人才到海口创新创业,为海口的发展提供人才智力支持。


  在这个以“基因”为主题的大会上,目前颇受争议的转基因食品成为热词。诺奖得主如何看待转基因食品,他们是否食用?本报记者对他们进行了采访。


  2010年度诺贝尔化学奖得主根岸英一博士说,他也吃转基因食品,但他总是很谨慎,“吃得很小心”。


  2011年度诺贝尔生理学或医学奖得主布鲁斯·博伊特勒博士说,他赞成转基因食品,因为很多食品中都含有转基因成分。比如说,玉米就是基因改变过的食物。玉米刚出来的时候并不是现在这个样子,中间通过改变基因的成分或者其他变异也好,形成了现在这个样子。“所以,如果可以用现代的科学手段,让我们的食物变得更加丰富,更加有营养,为什么不呢?在我们利用现代基因技术来生产转基因食品之前,早就存在转基因食品。现在的基因工程技术只是改变某个基因,或者去除掉某些不利的基因,而不是将不同的物种进行混合。”


  2004年诺贝尔化学奖得主阿龙·切哈诺沃博士认为,转基因食品很好吃,首先能提高产量,其次能解决一些作物的病虫害问题,“我自己就吃,没问题的”。
