Zhao baige was elected Vice Chairman of the Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies

　　新华网悉尼11月13日电(记者赵小娜) 红十字会与红新月会国际联合会13日在澳大利亚悉尼举行全体大会，日本红十字会会长近卫忠辉再次当选该机构主席，中国红十字会常务副会长赵白鸽当选副主席。

　　赵白鸽在当选后表示，近年来，中国红十字会重点加强了与非洲、中亚和亚太地区国家的合作。中国红十字会今后将积极发挥应有作用，与其他国家红十字会共同应对人道主义挑战，为减轻人类苦难、保护人的尊严、促进世界和平而努力。

　　本次全体大会接纳塞浦路斯、南苏丹两个国家红会为红十字会与红新月会国际联合会新成员。至此，红十字会与红新月会国际联合会成员红会达189个。联合会副主席由联合会大会选举产生，每4年选举一次。联合会将全球分为4个选区(欧洲、非洲、亚太、美洲)，每个选区选出一名副主席，每届任期4年，可连任两届。
