原国务委员戴秉国任暨南大学校董事长
暨南大学是国内最早设立董事会的高校之一，在107年的发展历程中，特别是1978年复办之后，暨南大学董事会在廖承志、荣毅仁、钱伟长董事长的领导下，团结带领海内外校董为暨南大学的发展和建设发挥了重要的作用，做出了突出的贡献。
本次大会举行了暨南大学董事会换届工作，国侨办副主任马儒沛宣读了《关于同意暨南大学第七届董事会董事人员组成的批复》，聘请原国务委员、中央外事工作领导小组办公室主任戴秉国担任学校董事长。国侨办主任裘援平和广东省省长朱小丹为暨南大学第七届董事会董事颁发聘书，并与董事和暨南大学领导班子成员合影留念。
同时，会议还听取并审议《暨南大学工作报告》、《暨南大学第六届董事会工作报告》、《暨南大学新校区建设情况汇报》等。
校董助学成绩斐然 合力支持暨大新区建设
暨南大学校董会霍震寰副董事长在开幕辞中说，自2008年11月召开第六届董事会第一次会议以来，各位董事在各自的工作范围之内为学校各项工作的建设和发展做了大量的工作。申办研究生院、建设规划新校区以及争取政府经费支持的过程中，职务董事也做了大量的工作。
近年来，暨南大学教学科研等各项事业不断发展，招生规模快速增长，尤其是港澳台及海外生报考人数剧增。为进一步拓展办学空间，改善办学条件，整合学科专业，提高办学效益，学校决定启动新校区的建设。
据悉，暨南大学新校区项目已被纳入2013年广东省重点建设项目、广州国际创新城首批建设项目、广州市报批报建绿色通道，为新校区建设提供了有利的外部条件。首批建设项目建筑面积约20.36万平方米，计划于2014年9月1日投入使用。
