　　日本外务省表示，樱木10月29日前往中国，31日拟从白云机场回国，在接受手持行李检查时被发现行李箱内有约3公斤冰毒，随后被中国公安机关拘留。据悉，樱木本人否认涉嫌携带毒品。

　　据稻泽市议会方面介绍，11月14日下午2点左右，稻泽市议会事务局接到来自日本外务省的联络称“在中国机场，有日本男子因涉嫌携带毒品被当场逮捕了”。

　　报道称，樱木没有请假就缺席了11月1日的该市活动和委员会会议，之后一直联系不上。5日下午，樱木的女儿联系议会事务局称“父亲去中国，遇到了麻烦，好像被拘留在广州的看守所里”。

　　据悉，樱木前往中国可能与他所经营的贸易公司工作有关。

　　稻泽市议会议长野村英治15日上午召开记者会，表示将抓紧进行确认并指出“如果实属，这是作为议员不应有的行为”。

　　日本外务省表示，中国《刑法》规定走私毒品是重罪，最高刑为死刑。2010年，曾有4名日本人因走私毒品罪被执行死刑。
