　　办案民警介绍，边某父子2004年在鹰潭投资兴办了一家加工企业，凭借吃苦耐劳、诚实守信的口碑，在当地商界享有信誉。2008年以来，两人以“锋哲”集团发展需要的名义开始非法集资活动。

　　2008年起，边某父子一面先后收购江西闽源铜业有限公司、江西东汉科技有限公司、贵溪市华哲轴瓦有限公司等6家企业，造成“锋哲”集团迅速发展的假象；一面则以月利率2分到1角2分的利息向老乡、亲友共计56人，借款共计2.72亿元。

　　据犯罪嫌疑人交代及公司资料显示，边某父子四年来用于收购企业、兴建厂房的全部款项只有6472万元，仅为非法融资总额的四分之一。其余款项则用于偿还他人利息和个人挥霍，购买房产、豪华轿车等。警方调查还发现，“锋哲”集团的系列投资项目实际上往往只是隆重地搞一个前期准备和奠基仪式，而企业的实际兴建和运营却遥遥无期。直到案发，上诉公司仍处于在建状态，没有任何生产经营活动。
