中国学生到美国留学都出现哪些新的变化呢？
余浩：形容中国学生来美留学最恰当的词就是火爆，本学年有23.56万中国大陆的留学生正在美国的大学里就学，又比上年增加了21.4%，这已经是中国来美留学的大学生数量连续第6年以两位数增加，并4年里每年的增幅都在2、3成。仅仅6年的功夫，中国在美留学的大学生数量就从6.8万人增加到了23.6万人。6年增长了2倍，暴涨速度之快，连美国的教育界人士都在惊叹。这还没包括在美国留学的中国中学生，这方面没有完整的统计数据，但是美国国土安全部的数据显示，本年度有近2.4万中国高中生在美国留学，4年增长了近5倍，这就是中国学生来美留学的第二个特点：低龄化。除了高中生急剧增加，本科生的数量也直线上升，以前中国学生多是大学本科毕业以后才来美留学，但近年来中国留学生中本科生的比例迅速扩大。以本学年为例，中国大陆的留学生中本科生是9.4万人，研究生是10.4万人，本科生数量虽然还略少于研究生，但是增速更快，未来2、3年内有望超越。本科生来美留学成本是研究生的4倍以上，但是中国本科留学生依然暴涨。可见第一中国人比以前有钱了，第二留学美国的动力更大了。外国留学生去年估计总共为美国经济贡献了240亿美元，依照比例来估算，中国留学生去年至少为美国经济贡献了70多亿美元。中国大陆留学生最热衷的学科领域依次为商业管理、工程、数学与电脑科学、物理生命科学、社会科学、美术与应用艺术。中国留学生学理工科的比例大约为4成1，这些人学成以后相对容易在美国找到工作，但是对于其他近6成，学商业管理和人文学科的中国学生来说想留在美国就太难了。
