库房过火面积约500平方米，由于现场堆放了大量易燃品，火势较猛，造成了12人死亡，4人受伤。受伤人员均已送往医院全力救治。目前，警方已将两名出租房主控制。起火的是一家汽车配件厂，厂内两侧是平房，大约有五六间，住着厂里的工人和他们的家属。最里面是仓库，堆放着汽车配件。厂内中间的位置，原本是一片空地，但搭起了简易棚子，棚里面堆满了机车配件。起火前，厂内还停着四辆汽车。
多位目击者说，大火是从简易棚子里着起来的，然后引燃了周围的房子，大火几乎将厂门封住。多人回忆，听到里面发出爆炸的声音。熟悉厂里情况的人说，厂里虽然没有汽油，但存放着一些机油。机油罐爆炸后，飞起几十米高，火苗也瞬间腾起。由于厂外道路狭窄，消防队员只能把水管连接起来，进入厂内救火。晚10时左右，大火逐渐被控制住，消防队员还拿着水枪，站在侧面房顶上喷水。至晚11时02分，大火被全部扑灭。
目前，警方正在对起火原因做进一步调查。起火仓库所在的小武基村内，还有很多家储存陶瓷制品的仓库。火灾发生后，村内组织自查，并通知每个院子的房东到场，各自检查外租的仓库、厂房等，严防火灾。
中共中央政治局委员、市委书记郭金龙，市委副书记、市长王安顺要求竭尽全力抢救伤者，并做好善后工作。要按照“四不放过”的原则，查明原因，严肃追究相关人员的责任；各区县、各部门要举一反三，汲取事故教训，立即在全市范围内开展安全隐患大检查，及时消除隐患，确保人民群众生命财产安全。
