11月17日上午，四川省雅安市召开领导干部大会，原市委书记徐孟加被免职，由四川省委秘书长叶壮接替。官方当天并未透露现年56岁的徐孟加的具体去向，仅称“另行安排”。雅安市新闻办在11月20日亦称未获知徐的去向。而徐孟加最后一次公开活动是11月13日，其带队赴广东和江苏招商。
此外，在“4·20”芦山地震期间空降雅安担任副书记的兰开驰，被任命为雅安市人民政府副市长。
官方履历显示，徐孟加生于1957年，自2005年7月任雅安市副书记起，已经在雅安履职8年。其间历经两次地震，并在2005年上任之初便开通“书记信箱”。2012年他在接受媒体采访时曾表示，“书记信箱点击率可以称作目前全国市州书记中第一”。
今年“4·20”地震后，坊间出现大量关于徐孟加涉嫌腐败的传言。为此，4月29日雅安市政府特意进行辟谣，称“经有关部门查实关于徐孟加‘腐败’的传闻是个别别有用心人士无中生有、捏造事实而成”。
21世纪经济报道记者获知，徐孟加并未出席11月17日的雅安市领导干部大会，而四川省省长魏宏和组织部部长范锐平皆未在会上对徐工作进行评价。尽管目前为四川省市一级领导干部调整的密集期，但省长和省组织部长皆出席的情况并不多见。
对于雅安市领导干部的工作，魏宏表示“近些年来，特别是2008年和‘4·20’芦山强烈地震恢复重建以来，雅安市委、市政府和各级领导班子在重建、发展、建设上做了大量的工作，也取得了很好的成绩。 ”
