胡小燕：第一，我工作态度积极，有责任心。第二，不但做好，还想有什么方法做得更好。第三，我做事不会讨价还价，不会推托，而是想办法完成，并且把过程与同事和上司分享。
记者：作为首位农民工全国人大代表，那5年收获怎样？不当代表有没有失落？
胡小燕：那5年，就是做了自己应该做的事情。但我学习了很多用金钱买不来的知识，视野开阔很多，对自己的要求也高了很多。是不是代表，我都会做好自己力所能及的事情，会尽自己最大努力为农民工群体说话。
记者：农民工的称呼该不该改变？很多人觉得听上去带有一种歧视？
胡小燕：农民工只是一个代称，关键自己用什么心态面对。我认为，叫什么都无所谓，重要的是解决实际问题，让农民工老有所依，老有所养。但什么都依靠国家不可能，还是要靠自己去努力。
记者：你小时候想过长大做什么吗？想过你会有今天的成功吗？
胡小燕：小时候天天干农活，放牛时喜欢看武侠和侦探小说。那时就有一个想法：一定要出去，改变自己的生活。说实话，我不能算成功，只能算幸运。而幸运，最根本原因是我不放弃，坚持不懈。
记者：在你看来怎样才算成功？你觉得农民工最大的梦想是什么？
胡小燕：在我看来，有属于自己的房子，一家人团聚，就算成功。农民工的梦想普遍很简单：团团圆圆，过好每一天的生活。我们并不是非要成为城市居民，非得融入城市，我们不会把目标定很高，而是不断在发展，不断在改变。
记者：你对改革最大的期待是什么？
胡小燕：最期待的是户籍制度改革。在中国境内都是同样的公民，不再有外地人、本地人，农民、市民这种分法。希望改革多向基层倾斜，多想农民工所想，解决他们的实际难题，站在农民工的位置看问题。
记者：你说自己是时代的幸运儿，你怎样看待这个时代？
胡小燕：这个大时代，最好的是改革开放。作为打工者，能在不同城市穿梭，找到自己的坐标。因为改革开放，社会不断在进步在发展。农民工是中国梦的坚固基石，我们的梦实现了，中国梦就实现了。
