Liu yandong consultations with senior Kerry presided over the fourth round of Sino-US cultural exchanges

Xinhuanet, Washington D.C., November 21-Vice Premier of the State Council Liu yandong 21st in Washington with United States Secretary of State John Kerry co-sponsored the fourth round of Sino-US cultural exchanges high level consultations.

Liu said XI Jinping, Chairman and President Obama reached important consensus on constructing new power relationships between China and Sino-US relations are standing at a new starting point. Sino-US cultural exchanges of high level consultations mechanism established, is a major event in the development of bilateral relations. In recent years, Sino-US cultural exchanges keep high level consultations mechanism development, important results have been achieved.

Liu said, continue to promote the Sino-American cultural exchanges will help increase mutual understanding and trust, and the spirit of mutual respect and win-win cooperation deeply embedded in thick planting of public opinion and social basis for Sino-US new power relations. Both sides should further develop cross-bridge of civilization, promoting mutual trust, expanding areas of cooperation, enrich the content of cooperation, open up new situation for Sino-US cultural exchanges.

Kerry said, China and the development of strong partnerships, in line with the interests of China and the United States and the world. United States attach importance to us-China cultural exchange mechanism for high level consultations, is committed to working with China to mechanism into full play and enhance mutual understanding and trust between our two peoples, to work together to address global challenges.

Liu yandong and Kerry signed a memorandum of understanding on Sino-American cultural exchange of high level consultations mechanism.

　　刘延东表示，习近平主席和奥巴马总统就构建中美新型大国关系达成重要共识，中美关系正站在新的起点上。中美人文交流高层磋商机制的建立，是两国关系发展历程中的一件大事。近年来，中美人文交流高层磋商机制不断发展，取得了重要的成果。

　　刘延东表示，持续推进中美人文交流，有利于增进双方了解与信任，让相互尊重、合作共赢的精神深入民心，为中美新型大国关系厚植民意和社会基础。双方要进一步发挥文明互鉴的桥梁作用，增进互信，不断扩大合作的领域，丰富合作的内涵，开拓中美人文交流事业的新局面。

　　克里表示，中美发展强有力的合作伙伴关系，符合中美两国和世界利益。美方重视美中人文交流高层磋商机制，将致力于与中方一道，充分发挥机制作用，增进两国人民相互了解和信任，共同应对全球性挑战。

　　刘延东和克里签署了中美人文交流高层磋商机制谅解备忘录。
