“中国网事”记者第一时间前往事故现场采访，记者了解和目击的情况如下：
11月22日凌晨3点：位于黄岛区秦皇岛路与斋堂岛路交汇处，中石化输油管线破裂。事故发生后，约3点15分关闭输油，斋堂岛街约1000平方米路面被原油污染，部分原油沿着雨水管线进入胶州湾，海面过油面积约3000平方米。黄岛区立即组织在海面布设两道围油栏。
上午10点30分左右：在处置过程中，黄岛区海河路和斋堂岛路交汇处起火，同时在入海口被油污染海面上发生起火。
13时左右：青岛市黄岛区中石化黄潍输油管道起火爆炸后，记者现场看到，胶州湾跨海大桥黄岛出口目前已经封闭，只准许救援车辆进入黄岛区，而黄岛至青岛方向堵车严重。所有的消防人员和警察、救援人员都戴着口罩。新华社记者应该是唯一在现场的除了救援人员之外的媒体。
13时50分左右：新华社记者已接近事故地点约200米，现场有20多辆消防车正在紧张扑救，但黑黄相加的浓烟依然滚滚冒出。
14时左右：记者在青岛市黄岛区中石化黄潍输油管道起火爆炸点看到，爆炸点紧临海岸，爆炸点20米范围内到处散落着造成的水泥碎片，现场仍不时有明火冒出，100多名消防官兵正在紧张扑救。
14时20分左右：起火爆炸点在海堤上，爆炸点周边海堤上的大石头已变成黑色，空气中弥漫着呛鼻的塑料烧焦味道，消防官兵中有的戴了口罩，有的没戴，救援仍在进行中。
截至14时23分：据消防部门不断搜救和卫生部门最新统计，中石化输油管道泄漏事故已造成22人死亡，其他伤亡情况正在核实中。
14时40分左右：目前爆炸点周边水域已有二三米的油污带，但在爆炸管道中，已没有石油继续流入海中。
15时左右：记者在现场看到，有大约20多辆消防车聚集在这里，消防队员正在进行各种方式的扑救。火已经被扑灭了，但是浓烟滚滚，消防队员正在采取各种措施来争取把一些或明或暗的火势控制住。在现场能闻到非常刺鼻的燃烧之后的气味和掺杂着原油的气味。因为破裂的管道就处于海边，在破裂处附近的海域，能看到有白色的泡沫区。白色的泡沫区大概宽20米、长100米左右。还有的地方有咖啡色的一些泡沫浮在海面上。
在输油管道爆裂的附近的这一片岸边，大约方圆两公里的区域内，地面上的砖和海边的礁石都已经被烧黑或者是熏黑，有的甚至已经烧成了粉末状。在距离这个输油管不远处大约有1公里之外，矗立着十几个巨大的储油罐，在附近的海域可以看到无关的船只都已经被要求离开，现在只有两艘工作船在附近的海面在巡逻。
18时左右：据消防部门不断搜救和卫生部门最新统计，截至18时事故已造成35人死亡，其他伤亡情况正在核实中。现场的清理救援工作基本结束，记者赶往附近医院采访……
