“目前，浦东机场T1航站楼共有28个停机位，T2有42个。”上海机场集团董事长李德润坦承，70个靠桥机位已经无法满足目前的客流需求，建设卫星厅的计划因此被提上日程。
实际上，在2006年修编完成的浦东、虹桥机场总体规划中，便对卫星厅有所提及，其中提到浦东机场除了航站楼，还要建两个相连的卫星厅。
昨日，李德润正式宣布，筹建卫星厅的项目已启动，“我们要建造一个世界范围内规模最大的卫星厅。”
