“你们能想象那种情景吗？我感到很心痛！”...。。“这里的灾民需要帮助！”，赵白鸽颇为动情地说道。
据赵白鸽介绍，中国红十字会11月18日接到菲红十字会正式邀请，立即行动起来，首批国际救援队员在20日就已抵达菲律宾。而在接到正式邀请之前，中国红十字会已先期进行了大量准备，挑选专业救援人员、准备救灾物资、研究各项计划。
中国红十字会不仅派了救援队员来菲，也派人来菲对灾区需求进行评估。赵白鸽称，中国红十字会将把有关需求信息带回国内，并进一步与红十字会与红新月国际联合会及菲律宾红十字会密切合作，帮助菲律宾满足台风灾民的需要。
谈及此次来菲的中国红十字国际救援队30名队员，赵白鸽显然信心满满。她表示，这些队员曾参加过汶川地震、玉树地震、芦山地震等重大灾难的救援行动，拥有丰富专业知识及救援经验，“都是一个个精挑细选来的”。
