当学生，当先生，当战争领导者

同志们，说了很久要来讲话，但回回没有来得成，很对不住。今天讲三个问题。第一，当学生；第二，当先生；第三，当战争领导者。
同志们现在都是学生，又何必来讲当学生呢？况且有一部分同志快毕业了，毕了业就不是学生，其他的同志也等不了多久就毕业，为什么还要说当学生呢？岂是学生要永远当下去吗？ 我说对的，学生要当一百年。什么道理呢？又是怎样讲呢？因为同志们快毕业了，其他的几个月以后也要毕业了，所以来对这个问题贡献点意见。
党校是学校，住在这里就是当学生。出了党校门是否学生就当完了呢？有人说是的，毕业了。我反对，我说不毕业，但文凭还是赞成发，毕业典礼也赞成举行，这是毕业又不毕业。毕业告一段落，毕业后还要大学特学。无论进了党校、抗大、陕公，外面的中学、大学，都是一个人，尤其是革命的人、一个共产党员的开门。学校生活是一种开门性质，把门打开是想进房子去。进了房子，事情就多得很，在里面吃饭、睡觉、做工作，可以住上十年、几十年。外面的大学三四年，此地的学校几个月，都是开门。真正要研究东西，不是在学校，学校只算一张门，房子是中华民国，那里头才有多一点、深一点的学问供你研究。
现在讲门与房子的关系，不开门就不能进房子，叫做关门主义。强盗进房子，不得其门而入就要窬墙，小偷就打一个洞开扇小门，总而言之要开门。学校虽只几个月，但学了一个方法， 除了方法以外，还有什么没有？没有了，真的没有了。党校所学的是马列主义的方法、革命的方法、群众工作的方法、党的工作方法。如同下河游泳，必须先学如何游法，但还不算大游泳家，必须要真的下河游一游。如果游到中间，掉下去了，就不算好角色，是进门就呜呼。我们学的方法是为了战争，就要到各个战场上去做工作，在工作中取得胜利，才算好角色，但这张门的打开是要紧的。这是第一个问题的第一。
第二，如果活一百岁，今年二十岁，那还有八十年学生可当。学校以外所学的比学校学的多得多。学校所学的只是两手的一个指头，校外学的却有几个指头。不但如此，孙中山先生是学生，学的是医；他学了三民主义没有？一点也没有学。他学了中国革命方针、方法、政策没有？一点也没有。但孙中山先生是中国民族民主革命的领袖，他的一套不是从学校来的，而是在外面的大学校学的。小党校在这里，其余如陕西、河南、湖北、湖南、江西、福建、广东等等都是大党校。如果周游列国，到了英国、美国、法国，那里也成了大党校，大党校者地球也。假使说党校在延安东十里，这话对又不对。对的是小党校在此，的确在此；不对的是大党校在全地球，那里面的东西多得很，天文地理等等之类，学之不尽，取之不竭。学到一百岁，人家替你做寿，你还是不可能说“我已学完了”。因为你再活一天，就能再学一天，你死了，你还是没有学完，而由你的儿子、孙子、孙子的儿子、孙子的孙子再学下去。照这样说，人类已经学了多少年呢？据说是五十万年，有文明史可考的只二三千年而已。以后还要学多少年呢？那可长哉长哉，不知有多少儿孙一代一代学下去。所以党校学生不可自称老爷，我们出去，要时常带着学习的态度。学校学习是第一章，以后要不断地学下去，活到老，学到老。每到一处， 不要宣布自己是大老爷，要宣布自己是学生，老老实实问一问情形，地形路途，东南西北，苛捐杂税，贫农，富农，男男女女都查个清楚。从前怎样，某年怎样，如何发展，弄个明白。在党校就把党校弄个清楚，党校历史怎样等等；出去当县委区委，首先至少把一县一区查一查清楚。不要乱下命令，更不要你的命令别人做不到立即加以处罚，不弄清情形而乱下命令是要不得的。譬如开批评会开展斗争，说某人是机会主义，但如果不把他历史地、全面地弄个清楚， 他不会接受你的批评。弄清楚了，才能对症下药。隔靴抓痒是没有用的，原因在于没有抓到痒处。解决问题也要抓住其要点才行，如说打日本如何打法，种种理论如亡国论、速胜论等都没有抓到痒处，持久战才多多少少抓住了一些。你们出去无论打游击，做党的工作，群众工作， 不管对象是谁，都要找清他的底子。试问是否可以看看《列宁主义概论》？一面做工作，晚上看两页书，是可以的，也是必要的，但书本以外的东西也要研究。所以书本上的与非书本上的都是可学的与应学的，而没写字的是大学校。在党校学了一个方法，出了学校还是学习，在实际斗争中，在工作中，尤其要老老实实当学生。
我们在学校学了马克思主义，已经比孙中山还强些。讲到马克思，他有没有在学校学了马克思主义呢？据我所知，他不但没有学，并且相反，他学了反马克思主义。他的先生黑格尔是唯心论，马克思是唯物论，他们两个不相同。马克思主义是在学校外面学的，是在德国、法国等处看书、看事而学的。所看的事，有资产阶级和无产阶级打仗，有法国资产阶级革命、巴黎公社革命和英国劳工运动，并且学了中国革命。后来写了许多书，成为无产阶级革命的太上老君、开山老祖。他的法宝可使资产阶级头痛，法宝就是马克思主义，这是学校外面创造出来的。列宁也是在校外创造了列宁主义。中国也可以有列宁、马克思，党校七百人中间出一二十个马克思，并不稀奇。
你们在学校已经学了马克思主义，将来继续学习，向工人学，向农民学，向知识分子学。还要向资本家学，就是研究资本家如何剥削的一套；还要向土豪劣绅学习，他们的鬼鬼怪怪要研究一下，他们为什么能富，为什么能讨小老婆；还要向日本帝国主义学，为什么他有强大的飞机大炮，他的战略战术如何，政治情况又如何等等，同时打仗一定要了解他的情况，所谓知己知彼，百战百胜。知己要向自己学，如向工人、农民、知识分子、资本家等中国人，知彼就要知道帝国主义。我们要最后胜利，如不知己知彼，就不可能。知己知彼就得学习，随时随地当学生。很多好同志有学习的精神，不把自己作为了不起，没有说学了游击战、社会科学等等就满足，党校没有这样自大的作风。但也有少数人以为自己地下全知，天上一半，不肯老老实实了解客观情形，把这情形研究一下，再想个办法，施之于事，就是不肯采纳由外到里、由里到外打倒日本的办法。我所说的就是要学这个办法，这就是从马克思那里来的。中国有些古人也讲这话，如孙武子然。这是第一个问题，在学校学习等于开张门，出去后要大规模地学习， 第二种学习就是大党校，你们能这样，我们就放心了，不会犯大错误了。如果不用这个办法， 不先了解客观情况之后经过考虑再下命令，一定很危险，我想党校同志们是有这样的意识。
第二个问题是当先生。当学生又当先生，岂不怪哉？一点也不怪，就是这样。当先生的除了学校教员外，每一个共产党员和革命分子都有责任，在做事中间要当先生，也就是当学生同时当先生，每一个人有责任教育别人。我们中国人很多，四万万五千万，但这些人懂得不很多，什么团结抗日，什么民主政权，什么民生幸福，持久战，游击战，运动战，什么天地人和， 一二三四，赵钱孙李，等等懂得很少。所以教识字的是先生，中学大学教书的是先生。我们还要放宽些，出去开学校，不用钱，房顶是天、房底是地，开露天大学，但这不是叫每个人都去当学校教员，而是说无论做支部书记、县委区委、青年救国会、自卫军、少先队、农民会、工会、妇女工作、游击队、新闻记者，你所知道的就当先生，不知道的就当学生，学了然后再去教育他们。马克思就是这样，从无产阶级学习了，又去教无产阶级。他的先生有几百万工人， 工人觉得冷，觉得饿，都教育了他，工人打机器，也教育了他。后来工人懂得剥削者是谁而不打机器了，要怪机器所有者资本家了，于是工人打资本家，这些都教了马克思，造成了马克思主义，马克思再去教工人。你们也如此，要从老百姓处学习，造成你们的东西，再去教老百姓， 不断地教老百姓。团结干部也是如此，一定不怕麻烦地教他们。从前有个好教员孔夫子，他慢慢地来，弄清了学生脾气，使学生都喜欢，然后好好地教他们，所谓“循循善诱”。他又学而不厌，随时当学生。如果你们有人会学得厌，就不如他了。孔夫子还有一件事，当先生不打盹睡，所谓诲人不倦。你们出去无论做什么工作，也要不打盹睡，如果倦了，要用钻股法刺一下。总而言之，要好好地弄清楚，不要不耐烦。如果每人能诲人不倦，不倦地教育人家，团结干部， 则一而十，十而百，百而千，千而万，四万万五千万人民用不了多少时间就可以团结起来，提高政治文化水平，先提高了干部水平，继则人民水平都提高了。同志们要肯去讲，肯去说，有台就演讲，不要害羞，不会说就练习演说。有机会不演讲，有谈话机会不谈话，就不是共产党员。大家要有积极地教育人家的精神，就是当先生。
因为同志们不久要出去做各种工作，无论做城市工作、乡村工作、军事工作、政治工作、文化工作、教育工作，我都要同志们抱这样态度。但如果宣布“我做先生”，那就坏了，群众都会慢慢地脱离你，最后剩下你一个。这就是不要摆架子，先生架子摆不得，有点臭气，摆老资格是件坏事，“老子二万五千里”就是摆资格，使人讨厌。孟子说“人之患在好为人师”， 我提倡当先生，但又反对当先生，所反对的是自称先生。同志们都不要摆臭架子，就是要恭恭敬敬，客客气气，才和人讲得通，你的心和人家的心相通起来。无论是群众、父母、朋友或最亲爱的，都要把心打通，不要架子。每人都要有教育人家的精神，都要有提高干部水平的责任， 要说到舌子烂，喉子干，就是说要肯讲肯说，多讲多说，不倦地讲，不倦地说，有当先生的精神，但没有先生架子。
第三个问题是当战争领导者。也许有人说“要我去当排长，我尚未学会，我不去”。不是如此。党校同志大多数不去当排长或师长军长，但又不一定不当。我就当过师长，在井冈山当了一回。我既未进过党校，也未进过军校，逼上梁山，不得不当，何况你们进过党校，当过学生自卫军呢？如果一逼，还是不得不当。但党校毕业生还是不当师长的多，而要去做党的工作与群众工作。那么如何说战争领导者呢？现在战争参加者是共产党与国民党，共产党是抗日战争的领导者，如果共产党员不懂得战争的道理，不懂如何指挥，就当不成功战争的领导者，所以今天来讲一讲。
在中国今天干革命，离开了战争就不行。第一，中国现在的情况是半殖民地半封建国家。第二，这种国家的革命任务是要独立要自由。半殖民地是不独立、半不自由，半封建是不自由。中国既然是不独立不自由的国家，换句话说就是半殖民地半封建的国家，所以就要打倒帝国主义、打倒封建势力，换句话就是要独立要自由。第三，用什么方法来达到独立自由，完成这政治口号，做到对外独立、对内自由呢？方法多得很，党的工作、工会农会、组织政府、分配土地、办报纸、办学校，各种方法，各种方式，但战争是与敌人斗争的主要方式，也就是说战争是中国革命的主要形式。以历史看，鸦片战争是战争，太平天国是战争，辛亥革命是战争，北伐是战争，十年苏维埃是战争，今天抗日又是战争。在中国谋独立和自由，废除半封建半殖民地的主要手段是战争。国民党一路干战争，共产党也干过战争三回，第一回北伐，第二回红军， 第三回抗日。因此不论做哪一项工作，都要管战争，要和战争配合。现在有一批同志到山东去干党的工作，他们除了和游击队配合以外，还有什么办法？不然只有走，或者坐监。在山东做党的工作，离不开游击队、抗日自卫队、少年先锋队。山东的梭镖很长，日本兵很怕，因为这也是武器，也是军事，也是战争。如果有步枪，那就更好，所以大家要研究战争。党校同志对战争是门外汉，这句话相当对，又不完全对。同志们未进过抗大，但可以进一进，如果不进， 学学旧戏里进门的办法，两手一张，不消一个钟，也就进了去。这就是说只要有决心。研究书籍也好，到了泰山就向老百姓研究一下、调查一下，就会有办法，就会组织队伍。一一五师副师长聂荣臻同志从前是第一军团的政治委员，现在是五台山的军事总指挥，他就是用两手一张、一步进门的办法学了战争，陕北许多人民也都是这样来的。西班牙有许多军长、师长、团长也是如此，昨天在挖煤，帝国主义侵略来了，就爬出洞来去当兵，当兵有了经验，就升排长、连长、营长、团长、旅长、师长到军长，这些人都未进过军事学校。中国的徐海东、贺龙也是好例子。军事不用学，将来都可当军长，只要你肯干。连这也是逼上梁山的。日本帝国主义已离武汉不远，如果武汉一失，日本帝国主义的胃口不吃则已，一吃便想再吃，他还要西安、广州、南昌，中国只剩下峨眉山。如果大家到峨眉山去当和尚，我就不赞成，你们也不赞成。但那些日本占领了的地方，除了武装，除了战争，还有什么办法呢？不干战争，如何做工作，如何办农会工会，如何办学校呢？上海、平津等地的工作要做，但是第二位，只能偷偷摸摸，小声讲话。党的主要工作要放在战区，用战争方式来扩大游击区，来挤日本。朝东一挤，挤到平汉线； 朝西一挤，挤到同蒲路；南到正太，北到平绥，中间五台山就属于我。挤得日本兵怕八路军， 只剩下平汉线一条。不但挤白天，而且挤晚上，铁路在晚上就归我。其次一挤，挤到北平城， 弄得火也熄了，城门紧闭。用这方法挤日本，扩大抗日政权，消灭汉奸统治，扩大党，扩大党的威信，组织游击队、自卫军、工会、农会，再加上外国的援助，日本内部的反对，使帝国主义的路断了。马克思算得好，说帝国主义要死，日本帝国主义就是在中国抗日政权的建立、国际的援助中国和日本国内的叛乱之下而死的。于是中国的独立自由到手，开个庆祝会，党校学生散到全国各地，到那一天大家都庆祝。战争没有困难，想做就有。女同志又怎样呢，八路军不要就不干战争吗？也不！中国从前有穆桂英、樊梨花，将来中国还要产生许多女战士、抗日的女英雄。这是要讲的第三个问题。
问题越讲越大，要当学生，当先生，当战争领导者，再有没有？没有了。如果再要有点， 还是没有了。我还要到党校来，将来有机会可再讲。“欲知后事如何，且听下回分解”。
