程泰宁院士说，2002年，他曾经受委托担任一项超高层建筑的设计师，开发商明确要求必须跟外国建筑师合作，现场方案介绍必须交给外国人来说。如今这种现象更为严重，请一个外国建筑师来站台，这种盲目崇洋的现象十分突出。
中国建筑学会理事长、前建设部副部长宋春华说，每个城市都能找到若干“白宫”、“凯旋门”、“罗马柱廊”和“意大利花园”，这是一个不可理解的荒谬景致。

崔恺院士认为，当前的中国城市建筑必须反思，回归建筑的基点，以人为本地解决人居环境的现实问题。“必须加快后评估机制的建设，这能对行业非理性风气有所制约，否则错误就会不断重复。”
