Mr Wang Chengxu was born in June 1912 in Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, February 1951 joined the China Democratic League in April 1983, joined the Communist Party of China. Wang Chengxu, an active commitment to international education exchange and cooperation. 本报讯 中国共产党优秀党员、浙江省政协原副主席、民盟浙江省委原常委，我国比较教育学科创始人之一、著名教育家、国际著名比较教育学者、浙江大学教授王承绪先生遗体告别仪式，于2013年11月24日上午在杭州举行。
王承绪先生住院、病重期间及逝世后，党和国家领导人习近平、李克强、张德江、俞正声、刘云山、张高丽，胡锦涛、温家宝、朱镕基、吴官正、周永康，以及刘延东、赵乐际、赵洪祝、沈跃跃、常万全、路甬祥，中央国家机关领导陈希、袁贵仁、潘云鹤、杨卫、周国富、王永乐、徐辉等，省领导夏宝龙、李强、乔传秀等，老同志薛驹、李泽民、沈祖伦、葛洪升、柴松岳、王家扬、商景才、刘枫、李金明等，浙江大学领导金德水、林建华等前往医院看望、慰问家属或以发唁电、送花圈等不同方式表示吊唁。
参加遗体告别仪式并献花圈的有：乔传秀、胡和平、赵一德、郑继伟、汤黎路，杨士林、薛艳庄、冯培恩等部分老同志，以及各界干部群众、王承绪先生生前友好共300余人。中共中央组织部、统战部、教育部、民盟中央，中共浙江省委、省人大常委会、省政府、省政协，省纪委、省委组织部、省委宣传部、省高级人民法院、省人民检察院、省军区、省武警总队、民盟浙江省委、省教育厅等，联合国教科文组织以及王承绪先生家乡送了花圈、花篮或发来唁电、唁函。
王承绪先生1912年6月生于江苏江阴，1951年2月加入中国民主同盟，1983年4月加入中国共产党。1936年毕业于浙江大学教育系并留校任教。1938年公派赴英留学，入伦敦大学教育学院攻读教育学，1941年获伦敦大学教师证书和教育学硕士学位。 (下转第二版)
(紧接第一版)1947年应邀回国任教。历任浙江大学教育系教授、系主任，浙江师范学院教育系教授、系主任、副教务长，杭州大学教育系教授、比较教育研究中心主任、高等教育研究所所长及名誉所长、联合国教科文组织APEID计划杭州大学联系中心主任，浙江大学教育系教授，第五、六届省政协副主席。曾任教育部国家教育发展研究中心兼职研究员，中国陶行知研究会副会长，加拿大《交流》季刊咨询编委等职。1983年荣获“浙江省优秀教师”称号。1991年起享受国务院特殊津贴。1993年获伦敦大学教育学院荣誉院士称号。2003年获联合国教科文组织亚太地区教育革新终身成就奖。2009年获浙江大学教师最高荣誉“竺可桢奖”。2010年获中国高等教育学会“高等教育科学研究特殊贡献奖”。
王承绪先生忠诚党的教育事业。专注于教材和专业书籍编写以及外文文献的翻译工作，以渊博的学识，关心比较教育研究工作者的知识需求。曾任《中国大百科全书》教育卷外国教育副主编，合作主编新中国第一部《比较教育》教材，出版的专著和编著包括《伦敦大学》、《比较教育学史》、《中外教育比较史纲》、《英国教育》等，单独或合作翻译的著作包括《教育原理》、《民族主义与教育》、《杜威学校》、《高等教育哲学》等。主持翻译的《汉译世界高等教育名著丛书》是我国高等院校比较教育学、高等教育学专业的经典教材，具有广泛的社会影响。他是新中国比较教育专业首批硕士生和博士生导师，在近80年的教育生涯中，治学严谨、潜心教学、诲人不倦，深受学生们的敬爱。
王承绪先生积极致力于国际教育交流与合作。1946年11月，作为中国代表团秘书参加在巴黎举行的联合国教科文组织成立大会。1980年至1992年在担任联合国教科文组织亚太教育合作咨询委员会委员期间，多次出访亚太各国，研究各国教育，广交教育界朋友。2004年被省侨办、省侨联授予“浙江省归国归侨侨眷先进个人”荣誉称号。
王承绪先生积极推动人民政协工作。任省政协副主席期间，注意调查研究，积极参政议政、建言献策，为坚持和完善中国共产党领导的多党合作和政治协商制度，为浙江政协事业和经济社会健康发展作出了积极贡献。
王承绪先生的逝世，不仅是浙江大学、浙江省的重大损失，也是我国教育界的重大损失。他崇高的科学精神和道德风范永远值得我们学习和敬仰。
