省教育厅：示范校的生均藏书量要求达到初中生25—40册、小学生15—30册
参与过此事报道的相关知情人士告诉记者，该校以前每年都要求学生带书到班上共享，确实也不是强制性的，而且在数量上也只是“建议”带10本以上，没有硬性要求。而这次为了迎接省里“书香校园”的检查和申报四川省中小学实验教学示范学校，学校对学生提出了硬性要求和“15本以上”的规定。
对此，周德华解释，学校确实在申报四川省中小学实验教学示范学校，相关评估明年就会开展，这项评估中有一项指标为“生均图书量”。“学校馆藏图书7万册，学生人数5400余人，虽然馆藏图书的生均标准可能达不到，但是整个评估300分，这项指标只有5分，就算扣完，对评估也不会有太大影响，所以我们不可能为了评估而向学生强制借书。”周德华说。

家长担心：不借书会不会影响老师对孩子的看法
不少学生家长对借书一事也多有抱怨。有家长表示担心：“如果不把书借到班上去，会不会影响老师对孩子的看法？”还有学生家长透露，自己的孩子因为家里只有一些破旧的图书，觉得拿到班上会“没有面子”，每次都跟家里吵着买新书。

目前，汇东实验学校已经停止向学生借书，记者从高新区社会事业局获悉，该局也已经督促区内各学校开展自查，不允许再向学生提出将书籍借到班级的要求。
