首赴南方海域检验武器装备
海军军事学术研究所研究员张军社对新京报记者表示，辽宁舰首次组织跨海区的长时间航行训练意义重大。
跨海区是此次训练的一大要素，可以让辽宁舰的装备在不同气象水文条件下得到锻炼。张军社介绍说，此前，辽宁舰主要是在东海和黄海地区训练。此次前往南海训练，水文气象都不相同，对于武器装备是一次检验。张军社说，“对武器等装备性能来说，在北方海域和南方海域还是有一定的区别，尤其是雷达声呐探测方面。”

【航母战斗群】
“两驱两护”综合战力强
辽宁舰和“两驱两护”4艘军舰是第一次跨海区进行训练。
张军社认为，辽宁舰携带“两驱两护”参加此次训练可以检验和锻炼航母编队之间的协同能力，因为两艘驱逐舰具有较强的区域防空力量和反舰能力。两艘导弹护卫舰也具备一定的防空能力，且反舰和反潜的综合作战能力都比较强。
张军社分析，驱逐舰可以在防空方面担任警戒哨舰，航母在海上执行任务时可以弥补航母探测、搜寻、监视等能力的不足，加强其对空防御探测能力。两艘护卫舰则可以从内侧进行呼应，为驱逐舰接力。
“从整个搭配上来看，这四艘军舰的综合作战能力很强。与航母搭配后，可以作为航母编队的主战舰型进行一次试验，”张军社说，“此外，驱逐舰上的舰载直升机，不但可以担当防空和反潜任务，也可以对舰对舰导弹等终极引导起到作用，扩大和延伸舰艇的防御范围。”
对于航母战斗群没有出现潜艇身影，张军社认为这对第一次进行航母编队训练来说是正常的。“航母编队出海是一个逐步的过程。现在进行的是水面舰艇协调，以后可能搭配潜艇进行远海训练，随着训练科目的不同，以后还会加上综合补给舰等。”

对于辽宁舰目前的实战能力，张军社说，自2012年9月入列以来，辽宁舰进行过多次歼-15起降试验。2012年11月，歼-15在航母上首次着舰试验成功，被军事专家称为“我国海军航母战斗力提升的一个阶段性标志”。
张军社认为，现在的辽宁舰具备了一定的作战能力，但距离完全的作战能力还有一段时间，现在的辽宁舰的实力在国际上横向对比，目前和俄罗斯、英国差不多，算第二梯队。
