11月28日，中华环保联合会向北京市第二中级人民法院递交起诉状，对中石油和中石油吉林油田分公司提起环境公益诉讼。要求判令被告立即停止环境违法行为，依法处置非法存放的危险废物，排除因污染产生的危害。恢复周边土壤及地下水等生态环境，并支付生态环境损害赔偿款暂定人民币6075万元 。
今天下午，中石油回应：27日早晨，中石油立即召开紧急会议，成立调查组，当天中午前往吉林油田开展调查。公司要求，要严肃认真调查这起事件，逐级追究相关人员责任，并责成吉林油田立即制定整改措施，将污染土方挖出处理，进行土质置换，坚决消除污染、恢复地貌。对于不具备环保条件的油气井，立即停产整改。中石油28日下发通知，要求各油气田生产单位和钻井施工单位吸取教训、举一反三、认真排查，坚决杜绝违法违规现象，发现一起，严肃处理一起，绝不姑息。吉林油田已经免去松源采气厂厂长宋秋国的职务，接受并协助调查。
