林森浩在法庭上作最后陈述时表示:“我在看守所的几个月里，也尝试寻找犯罪根源，今天听了检察官的话有些感触。黄洋的死对他的家人打击重大，我罪孽深重，我向他的家人道歉，愿意接受法庭(法律)的任何处罚。”
三次去医院探望
2013年4月1日，一杯水改变了黄洋的生命轨迹。
这天清晨，复旦大学即将参加博士研究生复试的黄洋早早起了床，按照日程表，他应该去图书馆“润色”他的论文。
早上8点多，黄洋起床后打开寝室的饮水机，喝了一小杯水，因感觉味道不对，便开始呕吐咳嗽。此刻，同寝室的林森浩躺在床上，他听见黄洋用勺子清洗水杯发出的声音，虽然知道黄洋要喝饮水机的水但没有制止，而是继续躺在床上，后来接到同学电话便离开宿舍，避免和黄洋对话。
据检察机关指控，林森浩之所以如此表现，因为他早已在饮水机里下了毒——投放了二甲基亚硝胺。
此后，黄洋因身体不适入院，最终在4月16日不治身亡。
上海市人民检察院第二分院起诉书指控，林森浩与黄洋均为复旦大学学生，居住在同一寝室内。林森浩因琐事与黄洋不和，逐渐对黄怀恨在心。2013年3月底，林森浩决意采取投毒的方法杀害黄洋。3月31日下午，林森浩从其实习过的复旦大学附属中山医院影像医学实验室取得装有剧毒化学品二甲基亚硝胺的试剂瓶和注射器。当日17时50分许，林森浩将剧毒化学品全部注入宿舍内的饮水机中。
经鉴定，黄洋符合生前因二甲基亚硝胺中毒致肝脏、肾脏等多器官损伤、功能衰竭而死亡的特征。
林森浩在法庭上表示，黄洋住院期间，他曾在4月5日、6日、8日三次去医院探望黄洋，对于黄洋的发病原因心知肚明，但直至黄洋离世，他始终没有透露黄洋中毒的信息，也没有提供任何治疗方案。
逐渐怀疑中毒
根据检方出示的证据，在投毒后，林森浩曾先后11次对二甲基亚硝胺是什么、中毒是否会被查出、吸入摄入的反应、毒物检测方法、治疗方案等进行查询。
此前，林森浩因为写论文的原因，曾用二甲基亚硝胺在大鼠身上做实验，对二甲基亚硝胺的毒性有初步了解。
“我认为所放的剂量很少，黄洋当时是一个病程。其次实验中的大多数大鼠并没有死亡。”林森浩说，4月1日下午知道黄洋患病，实验中有一种推论是会自行好转的，但这一推论在实验中并没有得到证实。
在黄洋病情日益恶化的时候，同寝室葛某发现黄洋血小板很低，感觉像中毒。此后，葛某看了病理资料，联想到林森浩之前曾做过类似的实验，于是上网搜索论文，发现林写过二甲基亚硝胺导致肝功能受损的论文。发现这一情况后，葛某立即给孙师兄打电话，让他调查。电话那头，孙师兄问为什么。而就在这时，林林森浩回到寝室，葛某只能给孙师兄发短信。
这也是二甲基亚硝胺首次进入人们的视野，黄洋的同学朋友开始怀疑有人投毒。于是，他们开始对饮水机、水桶残留液体进行取样，并送到专业机构进行毒物分析检测。在确定含有二甲基亚硝胺成分后，黄洋的同学朋友最终于4月11日向警方报案。
此外，检方在法庭上出具了上海市精神卫生中心司法鉴定所对林森浩精神状态的《司法精神病鉴定意见书》。鉴定意见是:鉴定诊断，林森浩作案当日及目前无精神病，对作案行为的辨认和控制能力完整，具有完全刑事责任能力。
否认因琐事杀人
林森浩在庭审过程中态度理智冷静，在听到叫他时会回答“你好”。
林森浩对于公诉书提到的投毒过程没有异议，但否认因琐事将黄洋致死的指控。
林森浩坦言，他并非因为读博、生活琐事等原因下毒。在林森浩眼中，“黄洋聪明、优秀，但有些自以为是。黄洋和自己的性格、价值观有较大差异。但两人并没有太大矛盾，只是对他有点看不惯”。
林森浩说，投毒只是个巧合。黄洋在宿舍说，愚人节要到了，他要整人。“他拍着别人的肩膀，得意洋洋的，我觉得那我就整你一下。以前，听说过有人用这个毒物搞同学的事情，没有想到会有这个后果。”林森浩说，他看过媒体上刊登过类似的事件，“好像是清华大学。那件事情没有被查获，所以我就做了”。
“只想让他(黄洋)难受，仅此而已。”林森浩在法庭上不止一次表示。
被告人的辩护律师表示，林森浩当初购买二甲基亚硝铵是为了做动物研究，在实验过程中只有一只老鼠可能因药物浓度过高而死亡，大多数大鼠并没有死亡，并判断老鼠在实验过后会自行好转，虽然这一结论在实验中没有得到证实。因为黄洋所喝下的药物剂量不多，所以林森浩认为不会致死。
今天18时15分，此案庭审结束。上海市第二中级人民法院经过法庭调查，听取被告人公诉辩解及证人证言以及本案有关各项证据，认为林森浩故意杀人的犯罪事实成立，将择期宣判。
