蔡荣生曾获评“就业先进工作者”
蔡荣生的硕士、博士学位，都是在人大获得的。在人大供职期间，以他为首的科研小组还曾荣膺奖项，去年，他本人曾获评“全国就业先进工作者”。但从2010年起，网络上就有材料举报蔡荣生招生腐败。
中国人民大学2004年7月9日的一则公告显示，蔡荣生在当年获评副教授。

自主选拔录取科研成果曾获奖

人大明年“圆梦计划”细则仍在制订
2003年，教育部正式启动自主选拔录取改革试点，也就是后来为人们所熟知的自主招生，首批22所高校中就包括人大，目前，人大实行自主招生已经10年，并开展针对“寒门学子”的“圆梦计划”，以及与北大“校长实名推荐制”类似的“校长直通车计划”。
昨日，人大现任招生就业处处长王鹏证实，针对明年应届高中毕业生的“圆梦计划”及“校长直通车计划”具体细则仍在制订，尚未公布。
截至昨晚，中国人民大学官方并未证实，蔡荣生是否因自主招生问题被查。
中央巡视组：人大自主招生存薄弱环节
人大新闻网显示，今年9月27日，中央第十巡视组在巡视中国人民大学时，曾反馈称在党风廉政建设和反腐败方面，惩防体系建设，特别是财务管理、领导干部薪酬管理、自主招生等方面存在薄弱环节；在执行中央“八项规定”和作风建设方面，出国管理不规范，公款吃喝、送礼现象依然存在；在执行民主集中制和干部选拔任用方面，一段时间里党委领导下的校长负责制贯彻不够到位，干部任用和管理不尽规范。
当时巡视组组长陈际瓦指出，巡视组还收到一些反映领导干部的问题线索，已按规定移交中央纪委、中央组织部和有关部门处理。
