11时30分左右，记者看到，许多展区的菊花被抢完，只剩下空空的花盆。
市园林绿化局副局长谭晓告诉记者，哄抢菊花始于上午8时，“当时只有个别的人在拿花，后来搬花的人越来越多，整盆整盆地搬，挡都挡不住。园林局和神农公园都派人过来，但根本招架不住。”

而谭晓告诉记者，考虑市民欣赏菊花的时间多为周末，市园林绿化局本打算将菊花展延长至下周一。菊展落幕后，部分菊花也准备送给市民，却没预料发生了这一幕。他表示，今后，株洲还会继续办花展，希望今后不再发生这样的事情，真正让花香留在城市记忆里。
