首先是最基本的原则：在其它因素完全相同的情况下，可移动存储、可拆卸电池都不是坏事儿，事实上都能给用户带来很大的好处。

先说电池。和笔记本上类似，不可拆卸电池的设计方式可以更好地利用机身内部空间，同样的设备尺寸下可以增大电池体积/容量。
同时，由于厂商无需考虑电池拆卸结构的设计，理论上是应该可以改善设备质量的，尤其是那些一体成型设备。——当然了，这并不是说不可拆卸的一定就机身质量更好，只是说它们有这个潜力。
续航时间方面自然是争议最大的，那么你是愿意使用一次充电可续航更久的不可拆卸电池，还是续航时间虽短但是可以更换的？当然并不是说不可拆卸的一定更能续航，只是从原则上分析。看目前的趋势，似乎前者渐渐占据上风，事实上笔记本就正在朝这个方向转变。
很多人并不介意随身携带第二块电池，而且两块总比一块耐用，但不可否认的是，潮流正在远离这种做法，而厂商在做产品设计之前总是要做市场调查的，对于多数用户的使用方式更加了解。
另一方面，可拆卸电池自然也有它的好处，比如厂商不需要设计坚固的内部支撑结构来保护电池，不需要复杂的电池保护电路，还可以随时尝试不同的电池和主板技术。噢对了，死机了还可以随时罢电池重启。
AnandTech的创始人兼老大Anand表示，他之前也是可拆卸电池的拥护者，但是慢慢地更倾向于一次充电更耐用的方案，而且在同事的建议下，他也习惯了随时给手机充电，而不像以前非得等到电量掉到一定比例再充电。
再说可移动存储。它同样面临利弊的权衡。不知道大家是否注意到了，很多手机要么既可拆卸电池也支持扩展，要么就是完全反过来，只支持其一的反而较少。道理很简单，既然做出妥协了，那就索性都妥协了。
不过存储扩展也有自己的问题，尤其是操作系统的支持与处理。Google官方的态度似乎是，如果让普通用户去自己管理多个存储设备，只会造成更多困扰。
绝大多数人都是从PC时代过来的，习惯了C盘、D盘的分区格式，但这并不是小白擅长的，这类用户偏偏又是始终占绝大多数。事实上现在很多“高手”也开始不分区了。还有就是，苹果也不分区。
不知道有意还是无意，移动平台的很多设计都在“纠正”PC平台遗留的“错误”或者不方便之处，简化存储管理就是其一。Google和苹果在这方面达成了共识，只给用户呈现单独一个存储池，不搞难么复杂，而如果厂商(主要是安卓厂商)愿意尝试更多方案，自己去做好了。
虽然也可以通过软件将多个或者不同类型的存储设备统一管理起来，但是看看PC上的SSD缓存方案，就可以知道不同性能级别的设备共存是多么困难了。
性能问题也不容忽视。NAND闪存需要多个Die并行访问才会有更好的性能，存储卡的容量则是总的来说小于机身存储的，后者可以针对随机IO性能做更好的优化。
其实有个很常见的事情，可以说就是由此衍生而来的。很多人喜欢将应用安装在SD卡上，以节省机身空间，但这样往往会给系统、应用、数据的管理造成混乱，还会拖慢运行速度，因此除非机身空间实在不够了，真的不建议这么做。(很多所谓优化工具还都在建议将应用转移到SD卡上，真是……)
另一方面，SD卡也有很多自己的好处。这里也正体现了安卓相对于iOS的一大优势——它是开放的，允许多种不同的产品方案存在，以满足不同用户的需求，所以它才能这么流行。
智能手机、平板机的机身内部存储和SD卡外置存储都是基于NAND闪存技术，本质上没什么不同，但是内部存储对可靠性、耐久性的要求更高，因为它一旦损坏，就必须对设备进行大修甚至换新，这是普通用户，尤其是中低端用户极为讨厌的。SD卡就无所谓了，坏了买个新的插上就是了。(再一次强调，并不是说机身存储的闪存质量就一定更好，只是它应该更好而已，碰到没良心的厂商那就没辙了。)
SD卡作为额外的存储仓库也是很多人喜欢它的重要原因，特别是在低端的8/16GB机型上，不过建议在SD卡上主要保存音乐、视频等大尺寸文件，而不是零碎小文件，因为后者的数据更分散，容易形成大量碎片，进一步影响性能。
中低端机型普遍支持SD卡扩展，还有来自厂商的考虑。很多人关心处理器性能，关心屏幕质量，但谁会刻意关注机身存储的好坏？这里对性能、可靠性的要求其实是更高的，但既然没人在意，我干嘛不用一般的凑合凑合，再给你个扩展插槽，成本不就省下来了？还能博得很多人的欢心呢。
SD卡没有错，但是会牺牲性能、耐久性、机身设计，没有Google的支持也不可能用在Nexus系列里，坚持使用它似乎也成了过时的潮流。手机厂商在做设计决定的时候，往往是依据他们认为能热卖的方式，SD卡扩展并不在其中，或者说不是优先考虑的。可拆卸电池也是如此。
在探讨可拆卸电池、可扩展存储的时候，我们往往是从用户的角度去考虑的，普通用户更是局限在自己的使用方式和环境中。一旦跳出来从厂商的眼光去看待问题，可能就会得出不一样的结论。
当然啦，我们不是说厂商的做法就一定更有道理、更符合潮流趋势，但是主动权往往就在厂商手里，而且产品是他们的，肯定想卖得更多、赚得更多，设计方案总要以此为前提。
