Hong Kong cross-boundary students increased， will hire 20 retired customs officer checks the bag

　　海关关员工会主席陈明表示，口岸人手一向紧张，加上退休潮，估计整体口岸人手有20%短缺。据了解，海关由招聘至完成训练一名关员需时18个月，“远水不能救近火”，加上跨境学童问题并非永久性，待单、双非血统长大后情会改善，故特区政府不会永久增加海关编制。港府和海关在本财政年度各拨出62万元招聘，但海关有意长期聘请这班员工，故在4月份即下财政年度时会再争取资源续聘。

　　该批员工每周将工作5天，每天3.5小时，有上学或放学2个时段选择，估计每月收入7000多元，比限奶令近2万元月薪为少。工作主要是在文锦渡、落马洲和落马洲支线抽查学童书包和检查保母车等，避免有人利用学童走私和运毒。有前线关员表示薪金不算吸引，估计只会吸引住在北区的退休关员申请。有前线关员慨叹，特区政府不断增加海关工作量，但资源不足，令前线同事叫苦连天，最终只会增加违禁品“走漏眼”流入社会的风险。
