金灿荣指出，美国允许民航向中国通报飞行，就是在经济上承认，如果在这个问题上闹僵了，会影响美国民航，“赚不到钱了”，就会造成经济损失。美国是比较实用主义的，将政治、经济和军事利益分开。
美国不像日本“一根筋”
金灿荣说，与美国不同，日本是“一根筋”，非将政治、经济和军事利益绑在一起。美国现在的说法是“不承认”，而不是要求中国“撤销”，这样的说法相对理智，表明的只是美国的选择。因为防空识别区是美国开先河，国际上所有的防空识别区也都是单方面宣布，没有和其他国家商量。
国防大学军事专家李大光认为，各国承认中国的防空识别区，是一种大势所趋，随着美国等国家陆续通报民航，其他国家将来也会自然而然这样做。
