　　“我们从10月31日起就开始进入中华鲟核心保护区中华鲟产卵地附近进行监测。”中国水产科学研究院长江水产研究所工程师刘志刚表示，监测范围为葛洲坝水电站坝下15公里江段内。在为期58天的监测中，尽管几家科研单位综合采用了水下摄影、水下声呐探测、走访渔民和组织人工观察等多种途径，但始终未能监测到野生中华鲟自然产卵。

　　据悉，自上世纪80年代开始，野生中华鲟逐渐在长江宜昌江段形成了新的产卵场。相关科研机构开始对该江段的中华鲟自然繁殖活动展开监测。多年来，野生中华鲟自然产卵多集中在11月中旬，少数年份会在11月下旬。

　　中华鲟是中国特有的古老珍稀鱼类，也是世界现存鱼类中最原始的种类之一，被世界自然保护联盟列为濒危物种。
