依照此前马云的承诺，画作拍卖后的所得将捐赠给“魔豆爱心工程”项目用于公益事业。
“魔豆爱心工程”是淘宝公益基金的品牌公益项目，它为身处困境的妈妈们提供资金支持、电脑捐助、系统培训、创业辅导等系统援助，帮助她们在淘宝上创业，获得维持正常生活的稳定收入。
而马云也在交接现场对参拍者表示，除了这242万将捐赠给“魔豆爱心工程”之外，阿里巴巴集团还将拿出同样数额的善款，捐赠给中国残疾人福利基金会，“希望借此让更多的人们来关心公益”。同时，淘宝拍卖项目的负责人也表示，将在淘宝平台上推动更多公益项目。
