唯一幸存者目睹家人被火吞噬
起火建筑是一栋三层民宅，屋主是黄桂标，大火中包括黄桂标本人、其80多岁的老母以及黄妻、儿媳、孙女、孙子不幸身亡，唯一活下来的是黄桂标的儿子黄建平。黄建平称当晚担心家门外货车被盗(车上有大量货物)，于是决定在车上过夜，睡梦中隐约听到有人喊救命，起身发现原来是自家着火了。
黄建平说，当时是凌晨4时许，他奶奶在一楼大喊救命，他急忙拿钥匙去开门，迎面而来的是大火和滚滚浓烟，根本就看不清楚里面情况，更冲不进去救人，只能在楼下朝着二楼熟睡的亲人大喊，眼睁睁看着一家人被大火吞噬。
黄家此前一直在石潭镇做杂货生意，房子一楼常年堆积着各种货物。事发时，黄桂标80多岁的老母亲在一楼睡觉，其余家庭成员分睡在二楼和三楼。
官方：1人死于现场 5人抢救无效
昨日下午5时许，清新区通报称，石潭镇派出所在凌晨4时接到报案后，组织了10多名专职消防队员在10分钟后赶赴现场扑救。4时30分左右，禾云中队一辆消防车赶到，随后清新区消防大队4辆消防车和28名消防官兵参与现场救援，先后在二楼和三楼搜救出5名被困人员，并送往石潭卫生院抢救(后经医院证实，5名被救出伤者因吸入过量浓烟，经抢救无效宣告死亡)。之后在一楼搜救中发现一具被困人员遗体。
火灾发生后，副省长刘志庚作出批示，清远市委、市政府、清新区委、区政府立即指示全力抢救。目前清新区已成立“12·29”火灾处置工作领导小组，组织该区消防、公安等部门调查火灾原因，做好火灾的善后工作。
消防：一楼堆放大量纸质、棉质杂物
广东消防网对此次火灾也进行了通报，此次火灾于5时45分被扑灭，火灾过火面积约120㎡。
据查，着火建筑为3层砖混结构，建筑面积约180㎡。一层堆放大量纸质、棉质等杂物，用夹板分隔出一间卧室，二、三层为卧室，楼道内放有杂物，屋顶堆有木、竹等堆垛。燃烧物质为杂物、家具等。
目前，刑侦、消防部门正在调查火灾原因和财产损失。
