教育部组织的验收专家组指出,该工程建成世界先进的100G高速传输网,为下一代互联网及未来网络技术创新提供了必要的传输基础。

随着互联网的发展,大数据时代到来,无论是教育科研,还是经济生活,对互联网的带宽要求越来越高,对高速网络的需求越来越紧迫。主干网技术先后经历的了155M、2.5G、10G等不同发展阶段,目前各国运行的互联网主干网主要是10G网络。2013年一些发达国家开始着手规划建设100G主干网,教育科研学术网络成为领头羊。

2011年9月,“中国教育和科研计算机网主干网和重点学科信息服务体系升级扩容工程”获得发改委、教育部等部门批复启动,CERNET 100G主干网项目正式开始建设。历时2年,38所高校协同作战,终于建成了我国第一个100G主干网。扩展扩容的中国教育和科研计算机网高速光传输网全部采用国产设备,覆盖29个省、自治区、直辖市的34座城市,全长21732.4公里,形成了为2000多所高校提供千兆以上高速接入的能力,其中500所高校的接入能力达到万兆以上。

值得一提的是,升级扩容后的中国教育和科研计算机网主干网还建成了覆盖全国54个重点学科点的分布式重点学科信息服务系统,为我国高等教育和科技创新提供了重要的信息资源。

中国教育和科研计算机网专家委员会主任,清华大学计算机系主任吴建平教授说,第一个100G主干网的建成,不仅从网络容量和带宽,也从网络安全和管理上上了一个大台阶,为我国高校教学、科研发展提供了重要支撑,使我国教育信息化重要基础设施率先达到世界先进水平。
