事件一经报道，立刻引发了社会高度关注，最近，在公安、劳动、街道等护送人员的陪同下，41名涉嫌童工事件的员工被“遣送”回老家，交给当地政府和监护人。但在被送回四川老家前，一个涉嫌童工事件的"孩子"对采访她的记者说了这样一句话，她说"在这有米饭和肉吃，回家只能吃土豆和玉米"，"我不想回家"。此话一出，让听者不禁沉默。到底是什么样的原因让这些十三、四岁的孩子，背井离乡来到异地辛苦打工，还不愿意回家？
元月2号，也就是上周四的时候，已经有一部分在深圳打工的凉山州籍的孩子顺利的回到了凉山州的西昌市，当地政府也组织了相关部门到火车站迎接这些孩子。目前这些孩子大部分已经返回家乡。当地政府已经联系了学校，尽可能的让这些孩子回到学校读书。但是由于有些孩子已经离开学校很久了，课程可能跟不上，要回到学校读书的话可能还需要再适应。
其实这些年，媒体报道过不少凉山州孩子外出打工的消息。当地为何会出现这么多孩子外出打工？这其中最大的原因还是贫困。凉山州是彝族自治州，也是四川省最贫困的地区之一。这里交通不便，水电不通，农民人均一年收入也只有两三千元。虽然国家实行义务教育，但是读书的书本费、生活费这些还需要学生自理。很多农民一般都有两三个孩子，难以承受孩子在校期间的花费，所以大凉山里有些孩子大一点的话就辍学回家，帮家里面分忧。根据统计，大约还有10%左右的孩子因为贫困等原因辍学回家。
更让我们担忧的是，当地经济落后，这些孩子即便辍学每年也仅仅能够糊口。有些孩子家长和村干部，甚至觉得孩子辍学外出打工补贴家用，也比待在大山里受穷好。在他们看来，外出打工既能增长见识，又能获得一定的经济收入，还能经常吃到肉，这总比待在当地每天吃玉米窝窝头好。
我们希望这些孩子能够回到学校去，但是他们辍学确实有他们现实的无奈和选择。眼下，一些小微企业因为订单不确定、管理不完善等原因，非法使用童工的现象有所抬头。经调查发现，这类童工问题集中在包装、加工、玩具、电子等手工计件行业，并呈现出封闭化、分散化等隐蔽特征，屡禁不绝。
眼下，在深圳电子厂涉嫌童工事件的“孩子们”已经返回了家乡，将“孩子”送回老家是劳动部门应该做的事。然而，谁来关心这批孩子在返回家乡后，他们会面对什么样的生活？孩子们被遗失的校园时光又该如何拾起？
