这个QQ盗号团伙分为三个窝点，成员间分工明确，有的负责提供电脑、场地和木马病毒，有的守在电脑前24小时进行盗号，有的负责洗号，有的负责卖号，有的负责看管维护电脑，犹如一个小型网络公司。
其中一个窝点是专门负责洗号的。所谓洗号，就是先用洗号软件把被盗QQ号的虚拟资产处理干净，比如把Q币转光卖光，把游戏积分、装备全部拿走。然后，再把售价比较高的靓号、短号从海量的被盗QQ号中分拣出来，在网上按不同的价格出售，以支付宝的方式进行秘密交易。有一部分号码甚至会流入诈骗分子手中，沦为骗钱工具。
1万个QQ账号和密码的出售价格为300元至1000元不等，该团伙平均每天能盗取3万到4万个QQ号，“业绩”好的时候，一天能盗号近5万个。从2010年10月至2011年5月，该团伙获利近60万元。
从2011年开始，北仑公安分局网监大队注意到了这个犯罪团伙。2012年，北仑区法院以非法获取计算机信息系统数据罪判处刘毅、陈仙正等10名被告人有期徒刑八个月到三年不等，并各处罚金5000元到6万元不等。
2013年，王铭珺、贺世达投案自首。
