Q: what measures have been taken in combating the illegal trade in wildlife? How effective?
Answer: combating illicit trade in wildlife has been the focus of wild animal protection work in China, to that end, we have adopted a variety of practical and effective measures.
Chinese law for unlawful sale, purchase, transportation and smuggling of wild animals and products such as, extremely harsh penal provisions have been made, not only to physical, unlawful income confiscated, and a fine equivalent to 10 times the value in kind the following, could be sentenced to up to life imprisonment.

答：保护野生动物、呵护地球家园已经成为全人类的强烈愿望和共同行为，关系人类自身的生存与发展。但是由于种种原因，全球范围乱捕滥猎滥食野生动物和走私、非法经营野生动物产品等现象至今仍较为严重，包括象牙走私在内的部分濒危物种的非法贸易还十分猖獗，已经威胁到非洲象等部分野生动物种群的生存和可持续发展，成为影响到全球生态安全的重大隐患。
对此，世界各国必须紧急行动起来，共同努力，进一步加大保护执法力度，严厉打击非法贸易行为，从根本上遏制非法贸易势头。
中国作为一个负责任的大国，高度重视并大力推进野生动物保护工作。这一次，由国家林业局和海关总署联合举行“执法查没象牙公开销毁活动”，公开销毁6．1吨象牙，为的就是进一步显示中国政府坚决反对和严厉打击野生动物非法贸易的立场和决心，提高公众保护意识，强化各级执法机关的保护执法职责，促进国际执法协调与合作，形成共同保护野生动物、严厉打击野生动物非法贸易的良好局面，以实际行动为全球野生动物保护助力。这次销毁象牙活动，对于我国乃至全球野生动物保护事业都具有重要的意义，必将产生积极推动作用。
问：中国在打击野生动物非法贸易方面采取了哪些措施？成效如何？
答：打击野生动物非法贸易一直是中国野生动物保护工作的重点，为此，我们采取了多种切实有效的举措。
一是中国法律对违法出售、收购、运输、走私野生动物及产品等行为，作出了极为严厉的惩处规定，不仅要没收实物、违法所得，并处相当于实物价值十倍以下的罚款，还可判处最高至无期徒刑。
二是中国建立了由林业、公安、海关和工商等多部门组成的野生动物保护执法体系和部际执法协调制度，不断改进执法手段，提高执法人员素质，加强市场巡查、案件侦破，并设立举报热线，及时分析野生动物非法贸易动态，有针对性地开展联合执法检查和专项打击行动。近年来，中国查处了大量非法贸易案件，惩处了许多涉案犯罪人员，执法成果显著。
三是中国积极推进打击野生动物非法贸易国际合作，务实采取行动。包括：资助东南亚、非洲等国相关人员来华参加培训班，加强双边互访和执法信息交流，主导和联合实施国际共同打击行动等。此外，中方还积极推动和参与ＣＩＴＥＳ公约（濒危野生动植物种国际贸易公约）等有关工作。特别是去年初，还联合亚洲、非洲和美洲22个国家针对跨洲野生动物非法贸易活动，成功组织开展了“眼镜蛇行动”，出动大量警力，查获多起走私案件，及时惩处违法犯罪人员，缴获大量濒危物种及其制品。此举受到了ＣＩＴＥＳ的特别表彰。
四是中国长期坚持对公众加强保护宣传教育。通过专家讲法、案例曝光、专题活动、发送手机短信等形式，广泛开展公众宣传教育，促使公众保护意识得以极大提高。
问：今后，中国将从哪些方面加大对野生动物非法贸易的打击力度？
答：从现阶段情况来看，乱捕滥猎滥食野生动物和走私、非法经营野生动物产品等现象，在我国仍未从根本上得到遏制。针对上述情况，今后将通过一系列措施，进一步加大对野生动物非法贸易的打击力度。
一方面，我们将进一步健全部门间执法协调机制，强化综合整治。在切实强化野生动物分布区的野外巡护、看守的同时，强化对餐馆、花鸟市场等经营场所的巡查，密切监测、追踪借电子网络平台销售野生动物产品的行为，规范野生动物及产品运输行为。在执法检查过程中，重点关注涉及虎、豹、象、犀牛等珍稀濒危物种和团伙犯罪的大案要案，做到一追到底；对盗猎野生动物及其产品非法贸易较为严重的区域或环节，适时组织专项打击行动，坚决遏制违法犯罪活动的猖獗势头。
另一方面，将完善法律法规和管理制度，建立打击野生动物非法贸易的长效机制。强化保护执法责任制，推进保护管理机构和执法队伍建设，提高野生动物保护和执法监管的总体水平，规范管理野生动物驯养繁殖和经营利用活动，维持对走私象牙等违法犯罪活动的高压态势。
同时，还将继续加强保护宣传和公众教育，通过多种渠道、多种形式，鼓励公众自觉抵制非法来源的野生动物及产品，形成群防群治的良好局面。
