本报讯(记者 崔一波)1月5日上午，部分群众到西吉县北大寺参加已故宗教人士忌日纪念活动，13时左右，在为信教群众散发油香(油饼)过程中，由于群众相互拥挤，发生意外踩踏事故。受伤人员在第一时间全部被送到西吉县人民医院进行抢救，有14人经抢救无效亡故，其余受伤人员10人(其中4人重伤)正在医院救治。
事故发生后，党中央、国务院高度重视，习近平总书记作出重要指示，李克强、俞正声等中央领导同志作出重要批示。自治区党委书记李建华、自治区主席刘慧、自治区党委副书记崔波以及自治区党委常委、统战部部长马三刚迅速作出批示，要求全力抢救伤员，妥善处理善后工作，安抚好家属，查清事故原因，确保社会大局稳定。刘慧主席及自治区党委常委、市委书记李文章，自治区副主席白雪山以及市领导马汉成、张佑昌、马志宏、吴会军等迅速赶往西吉县看望慰问伤者。刘慧主持召开事故处理会议，研究了处理意见，提出要认真落实习近平总书记等中央领导的重要批示精神，按照自治区党委政府的要求，做好伤员救治和亡者善后事宜，要抓紧调查事故原因，吸取教训，维护和保障人民群众的生命安全。
自治区和市、县抽调骨干医疗力量对重伤人员进行全力抢救，并及时联系区、市医疗专家，紧急赶往西吉县人民医院对危重病人进行会诊救治。目前，伤者病情稳定，4名重伤员已转至固原市医院治疗。14名亡者已全部送回家中准备安葬。家属情绪稳定，西吉县社会大局安定。
