俞正声强调，十八届三中全会对新一轮改革进行了总部署、总动员。统一战线要把学习贯彻十八届三中全会精神作为重大政治任务，充分发挥资源密集、联系广泛、协调关系等独特优势，增进共识、献计出力，最大限度地把人才智力都凝聚起来，经济实力都动员起来，创造活力都激发出来，为实现各项目标任务作出贡献。
俞正声指出，要着眼建设中国特色社会主义参政党，把加强民主党派组织建设特别是领导班子建设作为基础性战略性任务抓紧抓好。要协助民主党派健全制度，加强代表人士培养特别是后备人才培养，推荐更多党外人才在实职岗位经受锻炼，提高合作共事的能力和水平，进一步把多党合作制度坚持好、发展好。
俞正声强调，发展非公有制经济不是权宜之计，而是战略方针，是实现中国梦的强大动力。要毫不动摇鼓励、支持、引导非公有制经济发展，既营造有利于发展的良好氛围，增强非公有制经济人士发展信心；也要引导非公有制企业走科学发展之路，引导非公有制经济人士做合格的中国特色社会主义事业建设者。
在谈到宗教工作时，俞正声说，宗教问题具有长期性、复杂性和群众性，要认真贯彻党的宗教信仰自由政策，依法管理宗教事务，坚持独立自主自办的原则，积极引导宗教与社会主义社会相适应，充分发挥宗教界人士和信教群众在促进经济社会发展中的积极作用。
俞正声要求各级党委高度重视统战工作，切实增强统战意识，把统战工作纳入议事日程，健全党委统一领导、统战部牵头协调、各有关部门和人民团体各负其责的工作机制，推动统一战线事业实现新发展。
