　　当消防部门到达现场后，发现油罐车的整个车身已经被熊熊烈火包围，犹如一个巨大的火球不断燃烧，油罐车的车轮被炙热的火炎烤化。但更为危急的是油罐车还在不断泄漏，已经形成了流淌火，一些油则流向了附近的草丛及山林，并将草丛点着。

　　经现场询问，消防人员了解到油罐车内装载的油料为柴油。根据现场掌握情况，消防部门立即展开救援行动，出两把水枪对罐体进行灭火，但是效果并不明显。随即，消防部门使用泡沫进行灭火，很快就将明火进行了覆盖，并对火势进行了有效压制。

　　待火势减小后，几名消防官兵又换上隔热服，逐步靠近油罐车，对各火点分别扑救，19时20分火灾成功扑灭。

　　扑灭火灾后，消防官兵又在现场进行了留守保护，待倒灌车赶到时，技术人员对起火油罐车车内的残油进行了导罐、输转。整个救援工作持续到8日零点结束。

　　事后，据起火油罐车驾驶员介绍，当他在行驶的过程中并没有发现油罐已经着火，是旁边路过的车辆驾驶员提醒后才发现油罐已经冒烟，下车后立即用车载灭火器进行灭火，但已为时已晚，便立即拨打了报警电话。
