指甲被真菌感染可形成裂纹、变脆或增厚，指甲颜色呈棕色或黑色，指甲还会变厚变松。
“但是，在门诊中，得甲癣的小朋友很少看到，甲癣病人绝大多数是成人。”要判断孩子们得的是不是甲癣，可以通过指甲的真菌检测来判定。

比方说，如果是甲醛中毒，可能会有喉咙痛、眼睛灼伤、呼吸困难、过敏性皮炎、肝功能下降、头晕、乏力、嗜睡等表现。
如果是重金属中毒，急性期表现有恶心、呕吐、腹痛、低血压、溶血、肝炎、黄疸、急性肾衰竭、昏迷、抽搐等；慢性中毒则难以察觉。
要检测孩子是否有中毒的可能，可以通过血液检测来发现。
