报道称，2013年12月31日晚，本是个辞旧迎新的好日子，就在西班牙全国民众和旅西华人喜气洋洋跨年的晚上，西班牙电视五台跨年晚会上的一个小品《Mesa para Dos》却引起当地华人华侨的关注和愤怒。
这个小品节目中，一名西班牙男子与情人在一家中餐馆吃饭，恰遇自己的老婆和岳父母也在此用餐，于是这名男子多次换装，周旋于情人和老婆之间，但最后还是被揭穿。编导将这名男子扮装成“小丑”式的华人跑堂形象。
演员像跳梁小丑一样，表情怪异、痴傻、夸张，动作卑贱、轻浮、无厘头，如猫腰接待客人还拍打女顾客的屁股。不仅如此，编导还在台词中让顾客骂中国跑堂是“白痴”、“蠢驴”，让中国跑堂从厨房端出“狗肉”、“猫肉”给客人吃等。
报道指出，西班牙电视台在收视率极高的跨年晚会中，出现大肆辱华节目，将西班牙人的欢乐建立在对华人的丑化和侮辱之上，这对中国人声誉和形象所造成的伤害非常巨大，其做法和用意也是相当无礼和恶毒的。对此，很多旅西华人在观后，也表示了异常的愤怒和不解。
此消息传到国内后，也引起了巨大的轰动。目前，许多侨胞都希望华人的一些机构和组织，能够对西班牙电视五台又一次极其恶劣的辱华行为，做出切实有效地回击，要让对方知道，华人不是可以肆意侮辱和丑化的。
为此，西班牙华侨华人协会主席毛峰召集各侨团代表于1月7日下午，在西班牙华侨华人协会会址举行了会谈，商讨维权对策。
