刘晓明说，在我撰文和接受采访后，看到不少英国媒体和民众的评论。有英国媒体称，中方把日本军国主义比作“伏地魔”生动形象，引起西方公众极大关注。也有英国公众称，无法想象德国领导人会像日本领导人参拜靖国神社那样，做出任何与纪念纳粹有关联的事情。还有一些英国读者给我写信。其中一封这样写道：刘大使的阐述有助于西方民众更深入地了解日本侵华历史以及日方拒绝承认和悔改历史罪行的错误。当然还有一些西方人不了解中国人民对日本侵华战争和南京大屠杀的强烈感受。
