2013年12月31日，通过调查，方佳伟了解到，被举报公车属于东至县环保局环境监测站，遂与东至县环保局联系采访此事。
1月9日下午，人民网安徽频道记者采访东至县环保局了解到，2013年12月30日下午，该局确有一起公车私用。
原来，2013年12月29日，东至县发生一起槽罐车刮擦事故，罐体破裂，化学品泄漏，东至县环保局环境监测站采集水样后，送到合肥一公司进行检测。次日下午4时许，该环境检测站业务用车在返回时，该局一职工母亲也要从合肥回东至，因为年岁已高、腿脚不便，于是搭车返回。
方佳伟提供的材料显示，2013年12月31日当天，东至县环保局已对此事作出正面回应，并表示要处理公车私用当事人。但当晚22点20分，东至县环保局官方微博“东至环保”却发了一条微博，微博内容只有“方佳伟”三个字。

人民网安徽频道记者发现，只有3000多粉丝的“东至环保”日常的微博转发量很少，但发曝光记者名字这条，有30个转发，并有23条评论。官微管理员理应看到这条微博带来的影响，但“东至环保”却一直没有回应，也没有删除该微博。
政府部门官方微博发如此微博，让很多网友看不明白，微博网友有的惊叹“还带用公务微博这样发”，有的则提醒记者“保护好自己，有些事情不能太直白”。
1月9日上午，网友“汗青在安徽”再次发微博关注此事，并@“东至环保”，此举再次引来网友的关注。方佳伟看到后，评论感慨称“被树成靶子的滋味不好受”。
1月9日下午16时许，人民网安徽频道记者就“微博晾曝光记者名字”一事，采访了东至县环保局，一名自称姓朱的办公室工作人员说，这条微博是在当晚搜索曝光记者的名字时，不小心发出来的。
而对于为什么这么久都没有删除？该工作人员称是怕引起对方的误会，当记者追问怕引起哪方面误会时，其没有继续回答，而是称对此表示歉意。9日晚，方佳伟告诉记者，截至目前，对方并未向他道歉。
采访结束后，16点16分，当记者再次查看“东至环保”的微博时，发现该微博已被删除。
