　　根据报道，市民吴先生从2008年起开始关注碧云寺的这对石兽，拍摄了大量照片。去年正月初二，吴先生再次到碧云寺时，发现石兽不见了。吴先生说，以前周边的墙上没有铁丝之类的防护工具，石兽消失后突然有了这些防护工具，“我怀疑石兽是被盗了。”

　　根据吴先生所拍摄的照片显示，这对石兽摆放在碧云寺金刚宝座塔北侧的“石翁仲”旁。两只石兽并排放置，头高昂，张着大口，长舌伸至胸前，双目凸瞪，鼻头呈如意云状，耳大如扇，两侧有翼，前腿直立，后腿屈蹲，造型有些怪异，高约1米。

　　此前，香山公园工作人员接受采访时曾表示，石兽是前些年一家单位施工时发现，暂时放置在碧云寺，“2013年1月，该单位便将石兽拉走。”

　　昨天下午，香山公园宣传处相关人员表示，这对石兽于2003年被某施工单位发现，由于其属“阴宅之物”，该单位不愿保留，便将其暂放于碧云寺金刚宝座塔北侧塔墙外，并非公园在册物品。2013年年初，工作人员在巡查时发现碧云寺后门被撬，石兽丢失，之后立即展开调查，但至今未果。而对于发现石兽丢失后是否有报警的疑问，公园宣传处相关人员表示，由于并非公园的物品，“只是在内部进行了盘查”。

　　据介绍，香山公园将吸取教训，强化安全工作，在罗汉堂内安装全球最先进的极早期空气采样火灾报警系统，在碧云寺围墙上加装铁丝网，24小时不间断电子监控等，以杜绝此类事件再次发生。

　　碧云寺始建于元至顺二年(1331年)。后经明、清扩建，形成今日规模，为北京西山诸寺之冠。2001年被列为全国重点文物保护单位。相传明熹宗时期，魏忠贤看中这块宝地，扩建碧云寺，又在于经墓圹基础上加工扩建，作为自己死后墓地。但五年后魏忠贤获罪，墓穴遂废。
