Chinese couple vacation while snorkeling in the Maldives drowned

According to the Xinhua (reporter Yang Meiju Huang Haimin) Chinese Embassy in Maldives 15th confirmed that a Chinese couple in maerdaifusa 14th Julie Island Resort Hotel drowned while snorkeling near the sea.

　　当地媒体15日援引警方的消息说，14日下午，萨芙莉岛度假酒店的一对中国游客在海上浮潜时溺水，救援人员在距海岸200多米的海面上将他们救起，并送往岛上医院救治。医院方面称，当地时间14日下午6时，这对年龄分别为67岁和57岁的中国游客在被送到医院时已经死亡。

　　获悉中国公民溺亡后，中国驻马尔代夫使馆紧急启动应急预案，要求当地全力协助将遇难者遗体运抵首都马累妥善保存，同时与家属取得联系，转达使馆问候并协助处理善后事宜。

　　春节期间是中国游客来马旅游度假的高峰期。中国驻马尔代夫使馆再次提醒节日期间赴马中国游客根据自身情况谨慎参加水上活动，特别是浮潜危险性较高，务必在下水前认真了解注意事项，熟练掌握设备使用方法，时刻穿戴救生衣，并一定要有人在现场陪伴。
